Recruitment, Screening, and Background Check Procedure

1. Purpose
Agundiz Design S.C. is committed to recruiting employees, volunteers, consultants, contractors, interns, and partners who uphold the organization’s humanitarian values and contribute to a safe environment for all beneficiaries, staff, and community members.
This procedure supports the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PEAS) Policy by promoting fair recruitment and appropriate screening measures.
2. Scope
This procedure applies to:
- Employees
- Volunteers
- Consultants
- Contractors
- Interns
- Board Members
- Community Workers
- Partner Organizations
3. Recruitment Principles
Agundiz Design S.C. will:
- Conduct recruitment fairly and without discrimination.
- Select candidates based on qualifications, experience, integrity, and suitability for the position.
- Inform candidates that compliance with the PEAS Policy and Code of Conduct is a condition of engagement.
4. Screening Measures
When appropriate for the role and as permitted by applicable law, Agundiz Design S.C. may:
- Verify the applicant’s identity.
- Review relevant qualifications and experience.
- Request professional references.
- Verify previous employment where feasible.
- Conduct legally permissible background checks for positions involving direct contact with children or other vulnerable populations.
5. Mandatory Commitments
Before beginning work, every employee, volunteer, consultant, or contractor shall:
- Read the PEAS Policy.
- Sign the Code of Conduct.
- Agree to report suspected misconduct.
- Complete required safeguarding and PEAS orientation or training.
6. Confidentiality
Any personal information collected during recruitment or screening will be handled confidentially and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
7. Review
This procedure shall be reviewed periodically and updated as organizational needs, legal requirements, or UN partner standards evolve.
